SKIN
Skin is one of the largest and most important organs in the body. It is made up of 3 layers: epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis (subcutaneous layer)
Epidermis – The outermost layer of the skin. It acts as the body’s major barrier to the environment.
Dermis – The middle layer of the skin that cushions the body from stress and strain. It contains connective tissue, collagen (gives skin strength), and elastin (provides elasticity).
Hypodermis (Subcutaneous Layer) – The innermost and thickest layer of skin, containing fat cells
